G1 Test Mississauga

G1 Test Overview

The test consists of 40 multiple-choice questions divided into two equal sections:

  1. Traffic Signs (20 Questions): You must identify road signs, signals, and pavement markings.
  2. Rules of the Road (20 Questions): This covers Ontario traffic laws, demerit points, and safety procedures.
  3. Passing Score: You must get at least 16 out of 20 correct in each section to pass. If you fail one section, you only need to retake that specific part.

What to Study

To pass on your first try, you should focus on these core areas:

  • The Official MTO Driver’s Handbook: This is the primary source for all test questions.

  • Right-of-Way Rules: Understanding who goes first at four-way stops and uncontrolled intersections.

  • Demerit Points: Knowing how many points lead to a license suspension.

  • Alcohol & Drug Limits: Understanding the Zero Tolerance policy for young and novice drivers.

  • Road Signs: Learning the difference between regulatory (red/white), warning (yellow), and information (green/blue) signs.
